Heaven for Animals: Region Nara, Japan filled with deer
On the island of Honshu, in the area of Nara, Japan. Visitors share the garden with the local deer. Legend has it that the god of mythology that Takemikazuchi arrived in Nara by means riding a white deer to keep the capital city of Heijo-kyo. Since then,
white deer was considered as mayor and has been allowed to roam the area freely .. So that made it a rule that kill deer considered a serious violation and can be punished by death.
More than 1200 deer can be found in the city. They especially are seen in Nara Park, where visitors can buy deer food to feed the deer. Deer have become accustomed to human attention, they even have learned tricks like bending over to give a respect for human beings.
