Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to fly into space
Valentina Tereshkova was the first woman astronaut to fly into space, on 16 June 1963 with the rising rocket Vostok 6. Tereshkova was born in Bolshoye Maslennikovo, Russia on March 6, 1937. At first he was just a textile factory workers in Russia.
In 1960, the Soviet Union entered the race with the United States (US) on the space program. The two countries compete in order to excel in space missions.
The Soviet Union successfully launched the first man into space by Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961 with the rocket Vostok 1.
The Soviet Union designed a program that a woman could fly into space. Then the selection, Tereshkova finally been chosen to fly into space. on June 16, 1963 through rocket Vostok 6. Tereskhova managed to stay off from earth into space.
